Prologue – "Comes The Retribution"
In “Comes The Southern Revolution,” General Robert E. Lee wanted his grandson to get an education on how to handle his finances. Contrary to Lee’s instructions, the twelve men he chose to educate the boy manipulate him to believe that “He really wants us to resume ‘Mr. Lincoln’s War.’
Several times during the ensuing decades, succeeding “Councils” plan to follow through with their supposed mandate. But events on the world stage, The Spanish-American War, World War I, The Great Depression, World War II, The Korean War, and The Vietnam War, forced the postponement of their plans to drive the Federal Occupation Forces from Dixie.
In 1972, upon graduation from West Point, Second Lieutenant Jefferson Hampton Lee is called to his grandfather’s mansion and is informed of his legacy. Reluctant at first, Lee works relentlessly to fulfill his destiny.
Over the next forty-four years, using his military connections, he organizes a vast conspiracy of interest groups into small cells. Some are aware of the true goal. Others think or believe their benefactor is a true believer in their cause who wants to remain anonymous.
During the 2016 Primary Election Campaign, speculation has it that General Lee will run for President against Vice President Larry Gressette. In reality, Gressette becomes the first President of “The Republic of America.”
The Saturday after the “Super South Primary,” in which Lee and Gressette are the front-runners in every state, Lee sponsors a Conference (at four different locations throughout the South). Most Federal military members, above the rank of Colonel, are required to attend. As the officers arrive and register, they’re informed they have a message from their office. They’re taken to a room where they can talk in “private.” After a member Federal brass is captured, the Rebels have one of their own to take their place.
While all this is taking place, Lee launches a two pronged attack. The first is when three US Navy Carrier groups are supposedly having a war game. The premise is that a lone nuclear sub is to attempt to sink as many of each task force’s ships as possible. The second is when the Rebels attempt to over-power seven nuclear submarines.
Everything goes extremely well. In the end, with the help of the “Knights Of The Golden Circle, the Rebels remove sixty-five cargo truck-loads of gold bullion from Ft. Knox, disable the three carrier groups as planned, and apprehend six of the seven submarines they tried to capture.
In the next several months, combatants on both sides fight for their God and their country.
Toward the end of the story, it appears the Federals have the upper hand. They’ve recovered from the initial shock, and launch an attack with stealth gliders that catch the Rebel leaders’ off-guard. Then, when they overrun General Lee’s Headquarters in Rock Hill, SC, it appears that with General Lee dead of an apparent heart attack, and the rest of the Council dead or fleeing for their lives, that the ROA is finished.
Things aren’t what they seem. Bobby Lee, General Lee’s last surviving grandson, and the new heir-apparent, has escaped in a small aircraft from an underground hanger.
